Our Mediator and Perfect Atonement

August 20, 2010

"My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins
- and not only our sins but the sins of all the world." 1 John 2:1-2

We are strongly encouraged by John to live a sin free life, which is almost impossible. Nevertheless, we must try. But when we do sin, our Lord, Jesus Christ will plead our case when we humbly pray and ask for forgiveness. And so he desires for all the world to recognize him and run to him because he is the perfect and only atonement for our sins.

I need to live a more righteous life and determine that unwholesome living will not be part of my life...not in deeds or words. When I fail, I know that I can humbly go to my Heavenly Father and ask for forgiveness and be confident that I will be forgiven. Jesus will be my mediator and plead my case before our Father. I am forgiven.

Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your Son, the perfect atonement for our sin. I am a wretched person and fall short of the mark everyday. Oh, I'm so very thankful for my Jesus who pleads my case before you. Thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you for the cross that has the power to restore us to you.

Help me to be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. I want to be more like you.... everyday.

In Jesus' Name I pray.

Seeking Him and His Strength

August 19, 2010

"Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given, you children of his servant Abraham, you descendants of Jacob, his chosen one."  Psalm 105:4-6 NLT

We need to continually and seek him never taking our eyes off of him. We must remember all that has done for us. We are his children and he forgets not his covenant. We can be confident that when we seek him, we will find him ready to honor his promises.

I need to remember during the times that I'm discouraged that I should not stop seeking him and searching for him...even though I am ready to give up because he has not yet answered. In Him we can find the strength to endure and wait. God will answer because he remembers the covenant he made with his beloved Abraham and his children. He has performed many miracles and they are still available to us..we just need to keep seeking him and searching for him. He has not forgotten. He remembers.

Heavenly Father,
Help me to keep searching even when what I see before me is discouraging. Bring to my remembrance your miracles of yesterday so that I will seek the miracles of tomorrow. Help me to remember. Give me your strength.

In your precious Son's name I pray,

The Power of His name

"The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous things in addition to the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life by the power of his name."  John 20:30-31

Jesus performed so many miracles - many that went unrecorded. But we were blessed with these recorded accounts to help us believe and continue to believe that he is the Messiah and in him we have life because of the the power of his name. There is life in his name. We only need to believe in the power of his name.

Heavenly Father,
In your son's name we have been given life. Not just life from eternal hell, but life through healing, life through provision, life through purpose.  Two of the hardest things to believe is life through provision and life through healing - the latter being the hardest. It seems that it is easier to believe it for someone else than it is to believe it for ourselves. Oh, Father, help our unbelief!  Help us to believe that healing is for!  Oh, the power of your name...when we call on your name..when we pray in your name...when we ask. We must believe that we will receive. Please help us stay fixed on the power of Jesus' name.

Making Laundry Soap

I learned to make my own laundry soap. I did it for fun and for cost saving measures. It didn't take too long because I have a hand crank grater and I prefer the powder to the liquid. You can find the Fels Naptha and a whole lot more at

Autoimmune Urticaria Dermatographism V

It has been a few months since I have made a post but summers have turned out to be quite a busy season for me since I have started gardening.  This summer in particular has been unusually busy for some reason.

First, I am happy to report that I am a thousand times better!  I have not broken out in hives and have not had any itchy scalp problems either!  It really is awesome!

I did a few different things than last year that I found very helpful. I bought some scrubs for the summer to help with the mosquitoes and it has proven to be very helpful. I have three scrub pants and two tops. It was pretty much my summer attire for hanging around the house and running errands.  The scrubs are light weight cotton and keep me as cool as possible.  Because summer has been scorching hot and dry...very dry, the the mosquitoes have not been as bad this year.  Another thing that I found helpful was taking cooler showers.  If I sweated from exercise or being out in the garden, I would wash and condition my hair as usual.  However, just before getting out, I would lean forward and rinse my hair with cold water.  This was a hint given to me by my aunt who used to suffer from hives as well.  She told me that the key for her was keeping herself cool.

I started to exercise around March and still had not been relieved of the hives on my scalp. I would have to do a cold water rinse each time and then take my Allegra horse pill to help with the itching. It got to be a little irritating, no pun intended, so I stopped exercising.

I thought the heat of this summer would cause the hives on my scalp, but thanks be to God, that problem has vanished...miraculously.   The last time that I used the Scalpacin was around late April or early May.

I continue to take the Allertec (Costco brand Allerclear) and have not had to take anything more since late May, I believe.

I believe that prayer and having faith that God would restore my body has made all the difference. My body has calmed down significantly and I am very, very, thankful to my Lord, Jesus Christ.

I pray that if you suffer from this that what I have posted has been helpful to you.  I would encourage you to pray and believe.  God's timing is not always our own and we should not give up when we grow impatient. We need to trust God that He will work it all out to His glory. "Strength will rise if we wait upon the Lord." (Chris Tomlin)

Wishing you many blessings,
